~~VERSE 1~~

HADES

Brother Zeus, I have come to ask for your counsel

ZEUS

Brother Hades, no need to greet me so formal

HADES

…if you had felt my inner turmoil….

ZEUS

*jokingly* What? Getting tired of toiling in the world of the dead?

HADES

I think that I’ll go ask Poseidon for help instead….

ZEUS

I kid. Now how can I help dear brother?

HADES

…I’ve afflictled-um, conflicted! With my feelings for another…

ZEUS

Oh. Has a mortal gotten you besotted?

HADES

No. I’ve been dazzled by Demeter’s daughter

ZEUS

Ah yes. Her progeny, I think her name is-

HADES

Persephone. I…think I want court her.

ZEUS

Have you tried to coerce her? With jewels from the Underworld?

HADES

Would she be willing to part of my world?

ZEUS

*sighs* Oh, brother…

~~CHORUS~~

ZEUS

I don’t understand why you stand there in such hesitation

When you can have anything, with no expectation

I don’t understand why you stand off with your belly-aching

When you’re a god, everything in this world is already yours for the taking

~~VERSE 2~~

HADES

What are you saying?

Are you saying I pluck her from a field?

Consign and cajole her until she starts to yield?

ZEUS

I thought you wanted to court her?

HADES

I don’t want to escort her like bushel of flowers to a cold, empty tomb

ZEUS

Then what will you do?

HADES

What I have to.

ZEUS

What I’m saying brother is you don’t have to.

HADES

Dazzled, I have been dazzled

And what’s worse is my mind has been frazzled

With lines of sunshine, and the ambrosia of her voice

If I could give her the choice, I would…

I wish…there was a way I could

If I could…

Show her, I…

…I…could show her…

~~CHORUS~~

ZEUS

I don’t understand why you stand there in such hesitation

When you can have anything, with no expectation

I don’t understand why you stand off with your belly-aching

When you’re a god, everything in this world is already yours for the taking

HADES

I wish I could show her…

ZEUS

…for the taking…

HADES

…I’m dazzled…

ZEUS

…for the taking…

HADES

….I am taken…

ZEUS

…Then, brother. Take her.

THE END
